Nishant Mukta, a singer-songwriter and composer from Patna, Bihar, has won I-Popstar Vol. 2 with his track “Suit.” Known for pairing Bhojpuri lyrics with pop delivery, he competed under mentors Neha Kakkar and King.

The Show

I-Popstar Hindi Vol. 2 streams on Netflix and is produced with Alright TV. Shamir Tandon serves as music director, and Wicked Sunny hosts, while the mentors included Neha Kakkar, King and Aditya Rikhari. Mukta was less widely known than established Bhojpuri stars such as Pawan Singh and Khesari Lal Yadav, and the show gave him his first national audience.

The Song That Broke Through

His breakout was "UP Wali Laiki," a playful Bhojpuri track about a young man from Bihar who falls for a girl from Uttar Pradesh. The mentors danced through the performance and asked him to repeat it. By October 11, the video had passed 9.1 million YouTube views in just over a week, and now sits at 19 million views.

The Setback and the Comeback

Mukta started the season on Team King. His run was interrupted in the third week, when he forgot the lyrics mid-performance and was eliminated. Fans campaigned online for his return, and he later came back to the competition, this time on Team Neha Kakkar, and went on to win with his track “Suit." After the elimination, he said "forgetting lyrics or getting eliminated is part of the game," adding that one slip shouldn't define an artist's whole journey.

The Finale

In the finale week, Mukta took the stage to perform “Bombay Ki Rani,” a track he had already released, and then debuted “Suit” as his closing performance, the song that sealed his win.

Working With KING

During the show, Mukta also released "Enamorado" with King on October 19. The track blends Bhojpuri hooks with R&B and desi pop. Mukta credits KING with teaching him humility. "I have so much more to show the world," he said. "So far, I have only shown the fun side of my music."
