Spotify's India Charts No Longer Show Stream Counts

The "Streams" column has quietly disappeared from Spotify's India charts, including Weekly Top Songs India, even as it remains fully visible on equivalent charts elsewhere.

A look at Spotify's charts shows the "Streams" column - the one that displays a track's exact play count - missing from India's charts entirely, including Weekly Top Songs India. Meanwhile, the same column remains fully visible on equivalent charts for other markets, and on Spotify's Global chart, where numbers are shown down to the exact digit.

It's unclear when this change was made. Spotify hasn't issued a public statement, and did not respond to a request for comment.

As for why: sources familiar with the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity, suggested the shift may be linked to rising competition between labels in India and growing concerns around stream manipulation on the platform. The theory being that without visible stream counts, there's less incentive to inflate or manipulate numbers. Stream manipulation has long been a concern across the music industry globally, but a market-specific rollback of chart transparency, if that's what this is, would be a notable move.

For now, labels, artists and industry watchers tracking exact streaming performance in India no longer have that visibility through Spotify's own charts, even as it remains standard everywhere else.
