KATSEYE's Sophia Laforteza has announced a temporary hiatus to prioritize her mental health, with the group also putting out a statement addressed to their fandom, EYEKONS. The group will continue as a four-member act — Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae Jeung — with Laforteza missing their headline set at Head in the Clouds at the Rose Bowl on August 8 and the promotional rollout for their upcoming EP, Wild, due August 14.

"Following thorough consultations with medical professionals, it has been advised that she take dedicated time for extended rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery," HYBE and Geffen said in a joint statement on Weverse, adding that Laforteza remains eager to return to performing alongside her groupmates. Her condition will be reassessed in September.

In her own statement, Laforteza wrote, "It truly breaks my heart to have to miss out on a lot. Making this decision wasn't easy, but I'm learning that health has to come first." She added that she plans to "work as hard as I can to get through this, heal properly, and come back stronger."

The announcement comes six months after fellow member Manon Bannerman also stepped back in February for health reasons, with no confirmed return date, leaving KATSEYE without its two oldest members. The news arrives as the group prepares for the release of Wild, its third EP, and ahead of its first global tour, Wildworld, set to begin in October.
