Prabh Deep has released the 19th instalment of Project Santali, featuring playback singer Benny Dayal singing in Punjabi for the first time.
Project Santali is Prabh Deep's ongoing commitment to releasing one track every week for 47 weeks, having begun on January 16 — "santali" meaning forty-seven in Punjabi. Each release has been accompanied by visualisers, lyric videos, and behind-the-scenes content, with tracks including "Peer," "Rooh," and "Aagya" emerging as fan favorites over the course of the series.
The Benny Dayal collaboration came together organically. When Prabh Deep learned that Dayal was travelling to Goa for a performance, he reached out and met him at the venue. Dayal responded positively to the track from his first listen and spoke about Prabh Deep's dedication to the project, framing it as an example of musicians showing up for one another.
Ahead of the official release, the track was previewed on Prabh Deep's weekly Thursday Discord session, where fans got an early listen alongside a conversation between the two artists about how the collaboration came together.
The addition of Dayal, known primarily as a playback singer, marks a notable crossover moment for Project Santali, which has largely stayed within Prabh Deep's own artistic circle across its first 18 releases. With nearly 30 weeks still remaining in the series, the project continues to serve as a weekly showcase of new music alongside Prabh Deep's expanding list of collaborators.
