Composer and singer Jasleen Royal participated in an interactive session organised by the BCCI and JioStar with the members of the Indian women’s cricket team on June 6, following a viral Instagram video of her leg-spin bowling.
The session began with a conversation between Royal, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and batter Jemimah Rodrigues, touching on the discipline, pressure, and mindset that define both music and professional cricket. Royal then took to the pitch, delivering a full six-ball over to both players and demonstrating her leg-spin technique, control, and delivery variations.
The event closed with Royal performing a live set for the squad, singing her tracks “Heeriye” and “Inaam.” In recognition of her ongoing support for women’s cricket, the team presented her with an official jersey signed by the squad ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Kaur and Rodrigues went on to personally invite Royal to travel with the team to the United Kingdom for their World Cup campaign in England.
“This is an absolute dream come true. Long before I picked up a guitar, my greatest childhood aspiration was to be a competitive cricketer,” Royal said.
