Banjaare, the Haryanvi brother duo of Sumit and Anuj, have released the official music video for "Barsaat." The release arrives at a defining point in the duo's career, following the success of "Bairan" and "Barsaat," and their association with Spider-Man: Brand New Day's India campaign.
Where "Bairan" set up the emotional stakes, "Barsaat" picks up on the other side of the breakup, shifting the point of view to the woman in the story. The video follows "HER" journey, played by Punjabi actor Akaisha Vats, told through fragmented memories and flashbacks shot in a grainy, retro visual style.
The video is directed by Teji Sandhu, known for his work on music-led visual narratives, including Mitta Ror's viral track "Sheesha." Sandhu's approach leans into nostalgia without letting the visual treatment overshadow the emotional core of the song. "No monitor, no instant playback — honestly, I had no idea how it would come out. That uncertainty is the beauty of film," he said in a recent post.
Speaking about the journey behind "Barsaat," Banjaare said, "We have always wanted to make music that reaches the heart, and seeing people make our songs a part of their own lives means everything to us. With 'Barsaat,' we got to tell the story in a completely new way. Our dream is to take Haryanvi music to a place where people everywhere feel proud of their roots and their mother tongue. We hope 'Barsaat' makes people feel something long after the song ends."
The release marks another chapter in Banjaare's expanding push to take Haryanvi music beyond its traditional regional boundaries. The duo has been consistent in framing that growth not as a move away from their roots, but as an attempt to carry those roots further outward. With "Barsaat," that idea takes on a literal form — a song written and sung in Haryanvi, now finding an audience considerably larger than the one it started with, without changing what it sounds like or where it's from.
