Main Vaapas Aaunga, which completed its theatrical run following its June 12, 2026 release, marked the reunion of composer A.R. Rahman and lyricist Irshad Kamil with director Imtiaz Ali, the trio's first joint soundtrack since Tamasha in 2015. The pair had also scored Rockstar and Highway with Ali, and more recently contributed to the 2024 Netflix release Amar Singh Chamkila.

The soundtrack's lead track, "Kya Kamaal Hai," marked the first-ever collaboration between Rahman and lead actor Diljit Dosanjh, who performed vocals on the song. Written by Irshad Kamil, known for tracks including "Agar Tum Saath Ho," "Tum Se Hi" and "Nadaan Parindey," the song was described in its press note as a reminder of a world where "love is abundant, happiness outweighs sorrow, and togetherness has the power to break every barrier."

The soundtrack was positioned as one of the year's notable musical pairings, bringing together Rahman's layered compositional style with Dosanjh's background in Punjabi pop and global live performance. Reception to the film's music formed part of the broader critical response to Main Vaapas Aaunga, which trade reports credited with helping drive a turnaround at the box office after a muted opening weekend, alongside praise for its performances and Partition-era narrative.
